About Annie
Annie Chen became a real estate broker in 1981, mainly to invest in rental homes. This was more than a decade after she graduated from the University of Oregon with a degree in Mathematics, followed by a masters degree in Operations Research within the Industrial Engineering Department of the University of Texas at Austin (with a 4.0 GPA). She became a petroleum engineer for several years and the first woman to serve in that role offshore with Citgo.
She was later laid off with thousands of others in the oil market crash in Houston in the mid-1980s. That’s when she decided to enter real estate full-time and has led Lyn Realty through tremendous growth ever since. Most of her business has been built by word-of-mouth referrals. Her daughter, Julie Yau Tam, helped her in the office and on appointments since she was a child and joined Annie in running the business in 2012.
Born in Fukien, China and raised in Hong Kong, Annie is fluent in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Taiwanese/Fukienese and has traveled much of the world. Many of her clients have become her friends. She enjoys gardening and volunteers to help animals in the community.
